Who we are

RANTI is an iPhone app that helps you find songs by humming, whistling or singing. Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@ranti.quest.

When RANTI records

RANTI uses the microphone only while you are in Hum, Whistle or Sing mode, after you tap to start. It never listens in the background.

When audio is sent

When you tap Find it, up to 15 seconds of your recording is sent over an encrypted connection to RANTI's recognition service. That service forwards it to our music-recognition partner, ACRCloud, solely to look for possible matches.

RANTI's service does not store your audio. It is processed in memory and discarded once matches are returned. ACRCloud processes it under its own privacy policy: acrcloud.com/privacy-policy.

Song details

To show artwork, previews and links, RANTI looks up the song title and artist using Apple's iTunes Search API. Your audio is never part of that lookup. Opening a song in Apple Music, Spotify or YouTube takes you to that service, which has its own privacy policy.

What stays on your iPhone

By default, recordings are deleted right after a search. Searches you save keep their details (date, mode, clues you added, candidate songs and a small melody outline) on your iPhone only.

If you turn on “Keep audio for saved searches”, recordings for searches under Still looking stay on your iPhone so you can retry them. They are removed when the song is found or when you delete them.

If you leave RANTI while it is listening, that one unfinished take is kept on your iPhone as a draft so you can resume the search. It is removed when you resume or discard it, when you use Delete recordings, or automatically after 24 hours.

Games and challenges

Recall questions and Year Drop answers come from public music catalogs (MusicBrainz and Apple). To build them, RANTI sends only the song title and artist, never your audio.

When you create a challenge, RANTI stores the song, the questions, your score or year guess and an optional first name you type, behind a random link. Anyone with the link can play it. The song isn't shown in the link or its preview.

For Name the Song challenges, the default is a synthetic melody: a simple tone sketch of the pitches RANTI detected, without your voice. Your own recording is only shared if you explicitly choose it and confirm. You can delete a shared recording any time from Play › Your challenges.

Daily RANTI and challenge results are stored without any account, using a random identifier created on your iPhone. RANTI counts anonymous product events (for example “a challenge was opened”) with no identifiers attached.

What we don't do

RANTI has no accounts, no ads and no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. We don't sell or share personal data, and we don't use your audio to build profiles or train models.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. RANTI receives only confirmation of your subscription status from the App Store and never sees your payment details.

Deleting your data

You can delete any search from Memory, remove only its recording, or use Delete all RANTI history in Profile. Deleting the app removes everything RANTI stored on your iPhone.

Children

RANTI is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
